Envisaging Wyatt Lyon Preul

Those are my eyes staring at you. They allow me to see you clearly through this screen. No, don't click there, it will take you away from my online space.

Let me start again, I am Wyatt and I am a software engineer. I am also a process theologian, author, music hipster, struggling artist who enjoys thinking outside of your finitude. I am not as pretentious as that line makes me sound. If you have some spare time read more about me.

Community Server Custom File Type Icons

A A A

Community Server offers a great way to easily extend and change the icon images that are associated with each file type in the file gallery.

In addition, each of the icons comes in two versions, a small and regular sized icon.

Look inside your /utility/filethumbnails folder and you will get a better understanding of what I am talking about.  Whenever the files in a gallery are displayed Community Server looks in this folder to try and find an image to display for the appropriate filetype.  For example, if a file in the gallery has the extension zip, then the zip-small.gif file will be loaded.  If this image does not exist then unknown-small.gif will be loaded.

This allows you to both add and change associated icons.  I have added a small little icon pack to get you started, just extract them into your utility/filethumbnails folder.

Here is a snapshot of adding an icon and associating it with the mp3 extension.

1) add mp3-small.gif to filethumbnails folder.

2) upload mp3 file

3) view resulting association
